| Description | : | Eph. In 431 a church council was held in Ephesus and reafirmed that Jesus was both God and Man and that Mary was the Mother of Christ. Also being discused at the council was the doctrine of Mary as the mother of God. The churches split over this with the Cathlic churches acepting the wording and the Eastern churches rejecting it. |
